How to throw a memorable party

Here’s a quick guide to hosting your own party. I’ve included links with additional information wherever possible.

1. Plan Ahead
Figure out the time, date and the place. Remember that there is no such thing as being over-prepared. Where? Will the party be at your home or a public place? When? Remember, a successful party may require weeks or even months of preparation.

2. Choose your Guest List
Send invitations to friends and friends of your friends. Evites are the easiest way to spread the word, and they’re free. Small Parties should have a comfortable atmosphere, so invite a few select friends and allow each friend to bring a plus one. Plan your party according to the space you have and the atmosphere you want to create. For Big Parties consider a public venue. It’s often worth the investment not to have to worry about rings on your coffee table, there’s less cleaning involved, and there’s a finite end to the event.

3. Promote your Party
Follow up your invitations by talking your event up. Word of mouth is great, but Take Advantage of Social Media: The best and easiest place to advertise your party is the Internet. Use Facebook to remind your friends, Instagram photos of the preparations and Tweet your steps along the way.

4. Consider a Theme
Avoid tacky and raunchy themes. You’re not in high school. If you decide on a dress code, make it relevant to the theme.

5.  Choose Party Snacks and Drinks
One key to any great party is having good appetizers and beverages. Take Advantage of Extreme Flavors: You don’t have to spend a lot on snacks; have an assortment of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy foods. The Best Party Beverages are ones that are refreshing to someone who has been working up a sweat on the dance floor. Consider non-alcoholic drinks as alternatives to wine, beer and mixed drinks.

6. Pick the Right Music
Music is key to a party. A playlist may be great for a low-key event, but for an event with dancing, Hire a DJ. A good DJ will have the skills and the music to get the dance floor packed. Your guests should be able to speak over the music, but it should be loud enough for dancing.

7. Consider Decorations
Add some dash to your party by playing up the theme. The colors of your decoration should match your theme. This will give your party a unique atmosphere and will be more memorable. for your guests. Uplights are popular for public venues, and your local party store will be able to help match the decor to your theme.

8. Be a Host
Greet your guests as they arrive. Offer to take their coats, find them seats, see what they want to eat and drink. Spend some time with each guest and mingle.
